The Real You

Underneath the façade
Is just another mask
Waiting to fall
Waiting to fall

Dug beneath the surface
And found another earth
Under it all
Under it all

Pull back the curtain
Bring up the lights
Someone is searching
Don’t try to hide

The real you is inside there somewhere
Seek and you will find
The real you is inside there somewhere
Trust that you will find

I may not have a leg
To stand on but my stilts
Are still standing tall
Still standing tall

Lifting up the layers
I see another doll
Smaller than small
Smaller than small

Pull back the curtain
Bring up the lights
Someone is searching
Don’t try, don’t try to hide

The real you is inside there somewhere
Seek and you will find
The real you is inside there somewhere
Trust that you will find

The real you is inside there somewhere
Seek and you will find
The real you is inside there somewhere
Trust that you will find

The real you

And to give some insight into my writing process, here's the original piece that started this song. I often write segments of lyrics or verse that end up in various songs. Untitled pieces are numbered with Roman numerals.

Underneath the façade is just
Another mask waiting to fall
I may not have a leg to stand on
But your stilts are still standing tall

These guys are in disguise
But they don’t know it yet
I can see it in their eyes
They’ll rock the boat but won’t upset
