Backward Sun

(2 Kings 20:8-11Isaiah 38:1-8)
parody of Black Hole Sun written and performed by Soundgarden

In Isaiah, King reposed
In the sky, yellow sun glows
Hides his face, lies awake
Can God hear from this place?

Can it creep, up the steps?
Nietzsche said that God was dead
Call His name, will I see
All the shadows creep again

Backward sun, can’t be done
Impossible to feign
Backward sun, can’t be done
Want it done, want it done

Suffering, old and cramped
Still this tall King did repent
Signs were shown by prophets then
Can shadows march ten long more steps

You can choose, what to see
Shadow move ten west or east
Hezekiah said no way
Make the sunlight retrace once more

Backward sun, can’t be done
Impossible to feign
Backward sun, can’t be done
Want it done, want it done

Backward sun, can’t be done
Impossible to feign
Backward sun, can’t be done
Want it done

Watch the sun (Backward sun, backward sun)
King was stunned (Backward sun, backward sun)
Watch the sun (Backward sun, backward sun)
King was stunned (Backward sun, backward sun)

Back ten steps, up the stair
Shadows all but disappeared
Backward sun, watch it done
King lost the words to say

Backward sun, watch it done
Watch the sun, watch the sun
Backward sun, watch it done
He saw but can’t explain

Backward sun, watch it done
Watch the sun (Backward sun, backward sun)
King was stunned (Backward sun, backward sun)
Watch the sun (Backward sun, backward sun)
King was stunned (Backward sun, backward sun)
Watch the sun (Backward sun, backward sun)
King was stunned (Backward sun, backward sun)
Watch the sun
King was stunned
